While woodworking is a hobby for me I take extra care in what I make for both aesthetics and functionality.
Many of my designs are intended to be functional. While I do make the occasional 'art' piece, I like when something has a use and purpose.
My history in the woodshop starts when I was very young. I was able to hang out with a grandpa who was always up to making something. I still have and use a number of his tools that have a special place in my shop. Though school if anyone was looking for me they knew to look in the shop classes. Now I am fortunate to have a dedicated space to enjoy this creative craft.
In most of my projects I like to have the wood tell the story by using finishes that bring out the color and texture of the materials and not change them. This may lead to spending a bit more time selecting a raw piece to work with but in the end I believe it makes the work more unique and brings out the craftsman made look. Some of the items have been made in sets but no two are identical.
